This gorgeous Tudor Submariner SNOWFLAKE dial and hands wrist watch - has been serviced/ and cleaned to perfection, yes it has been polished with a lapping tool to bring out it's angular bevels and sides. Adequate pictures are along with the listing, pls take note this watch is fully functional and serviced. It has a brand new TOP-HAT crystal, with the period specific bevel in the crystal. The watches' parts used include the crystal, & the mainspring, all parts used in this service are authentic Tudor.
The SNOWFLAKE dial is a design that was first developed in 1968 and this watch is one from the earliest examples, the series started with serial numbers 702xxx and this Submariner is too in the same production quarter- IV. 1968, which refers to the Fourth quarter of 1968. The watches' case back has some of it's original design slightly polished off, but still retains a fabulous clean imprint of the Case design by Rolex letters. The SNOWFLAKE has hands that did not patina the same way as the dial, at some point in time, the dial was exposed to moisture, and has show bubbling. This particular era of Snowflakes has a well documented bubbling in it's dials, and most if not all of them showed this occurring throughout.
The watch is performing at an amazing 300 degrees plus amplitude on a full wind, and the timing is impeccable. I timed it over a couple of days, the results were under 10 secs./day
Pls note the bezel + insert are genuine service insert and bezel/ the bezel is crisp and tight, and are from the 1970s - the crown and tube system is a 700- no dots Twinlock system, it is original to the way the watch was produced. Although after service has taken place, it passes the water resistance testing, there is no guarantee of water resistance provided.. you must treat this watch as a vintage watch and occasional water splashing is the only guarantee provided.
The leather strap is amazingly well matched to the patina on the dial SNOWFLAKE plots. It is made by the famous Nick Gabarro, USA/ this excellent dual sided distressed leather band, is brand new.
